Princess Anne heading to Loughborough

She loves BUCS

BUCS patron Princess Anne will be making the journey to Loughborough to present medals to our winners.

Across today and tomorrow we’ll see teams compete for glory in fencing, netball, hockey, lacrosse, basketball, table tennis, tennis, rugby union, rugby league, football and volleyball – with the victors being presented their awards by the princess.

Excitement has reached fever pitch across campus, with a strong advertising push by the Students’ Union helping to pique the interest of those not necessarily that bothered about sport.

It follows an exciting lacrosse fixture at the weekend between Loughborough’s women and MIT, who travelled all the way from America only to lose in the dying seconds of the game.

Speaking to The Epinal, VP Sport Steffan Lloyd said: “BUCS Big Wednesday will be a spectacle with over 40 fixtures being played on campus.

“It will showcase the best student sport teams in the UK and having 9 Loughborough teams and Princess Anne makes it even better.

“If MIT is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat.”
