This is not a drill, Snobs might be forced to close
RIP to the best cheese room in Brum
Snobs is a well known club amongst every Birmingham student, and it is loved by many. Its popularity may be down to the fact it caters to many types of people – it has the charts on the first floor, classic cheese songs on the second and then some rap and R&B on the top floor. You also can’t forget the iconic faces wall x
However, the future of Snobs could be at risk. This is due to the club’s location. Snobs is located on the corner of Hurst Street, connected to a brutalist building.
There has been a proposal submitted to redevelop the area and knock down the building Snobs is part of. Snobs and all the other tenants would be replaced by a new Ringway Centre revamp that will include a gym, a spa and flats, if the proposal is approved by councillors – meaning that Snobs could be forced to move.
Nick Jones, who is represents Commercial Estates Group, told the BBC Snobs is just “a tenant” and that its “lease is coming to an end”.
Nick went on to say that there has been “various discussions around whether they should be able to come back in or not”, but the current location will be a “construction site for a number of years”.
Nick told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that if Snobs wishes to continue trading it would need to move locations.
You better get your last few Snobs nights in soon, or pray it opens in a new location.
