‘I want to prove I’m a good guy’: Love Island’s George Fensom addresses abuse allegations

George Fensom has spoken out about the abuse allegations made against him for the first time since leaving the Love Island villa. The 24-year-old, who was dumped first from the 2023 series, has said he’s determined to “prove” the claims are false by getting back on reality TV and showing the public what he’s “actually like”.

Before George even entered the Love Island villa, relentless controversy followed him. First, his homophobic Tweets were uncovered. A week later, his ex-girlfriend, Ebony Keeley, claimed he’d been so controlling she was driven to the brink of suicide. Quickly afterwards, another ex, Katie Hewitt, made similar abuse allegations, claiming George controlled her, made her feel worthless and left her with PTSD, all of which he denies.

“I’ve not tried to get in contact with anyone just because I wouldn’t really want to try and add fuel to the fire,” he revealed to The Tab when asked if he’d spoken with Ebony or Katie since being dumped from the villa. “I’ve justified my actions and it was just unfortunate I didn’t get more time [on Love Island] to basically prove how false the accusations are,” he said.

George says because he didn’t manage to find a “romantic” connection in the villa, he was never able to show the public the claims aren’t representative of who he is. “[Ebony and Katie’s allegations] obviously give off a lot of red flags for a potential relationship,” he acknowledges. However, George still says “quite a lot” of girls have been sliding into his DMs saying he’s good looking, regardless of the abuse accusations.

In order to repair his public image, George reveals he’s “in talks” with an agency about getting back on reality TV to date and has his eyes on shows like First Dates and Celebs Go Dating, despite calls from Women’s Aid for him to be investigated by producers while he was in the villa. “We know only too well that abusers can be charming and convincing in public and are able to manipulate others into disbelieving allegations,” they said.

“My plan going forward is to continue a story line of ‘George’s dating history’,” reveals George. “I didn’t find love in the villa so hopefully I can with another fun show that gives people a chance to see what I’m like. And, hopefully, if I have a relationship in the public eye, everyone will be able to see how false the accusations were.”
