A timeline of every single messed up thing Andrew Tate has done to date

Why does he still have a following??

| UPDATED

CW: sexual violence, sexual assault, rape

Andrew Tate has recently gone viral on TikTok for his arguably extreme views that he has shared on online podcasts. The British kickboxer moved to America with his brother, who has been a part of many of Andrew’s said controversies, before settling in Romania.

The internet star has been criticised heavily for his blatant misogynistic views, however he has also gained a rather large following of seemingly like-minded individuals, with over 2.5 million followers on his Instagram. But why exactly is Andrew Tate so controversial and what has he done? Here is every single messed up thing Andrew has done and said to date:

He was evicted from the UK Big Brother house in 2016

Andrew gained notoriety following his eviction from the 17th season of Big Brother UK in 2016 after a video surfaced online. The video appeared to show him beating a woman with a belt, calling her a “whore” and telling her to count her bruises, reported OK.

Andrew claimed the woman in the video had consented to this as it was role play and that he still friends with the woman. Andrew also added that he was using a felt belt which makes noise but doesn’t hurt.

In a statement made to his Facebook, he said: ”They cut out all the sound cause she’s LAUGHING in the video. And they cut of the end of the end of the video where she gets the belt and hits me back while we’re both laughing. What bullsh**t. It was 2012 and we were having a laugh.”

He said some women put themselves in a position to be raped

Following the #MeToo movement that came out of the Harvey Weinstein scandal in 2017, Andrew commented on what he thought constituted as harassment.

The Metro reported he tweeted: “Sexual harassment is disgusting and inexcusable. However, a man looking at you or whistling at you or asking your name isn’t harassment.”

Continuing, he said: “Women have been exchanging sex for opportunity for a very long time. Some did this. Weren’t abused. […] If you put yourself in a position to be raped, you must bare some responsibility.”

His Twitter account was suspended and the tweets were removed from Twitter as a result. However, despite his original account being banned for violating Twitter’s Media Policy, he has since been able to create three more accounts to tweet from, and in January, one of his accounts was verified.

He said he moved to Romania as it is easier to rape women there

A video has emerged of Andrew on Twitter saying that in Eastern European countries it is easier to get off on rape charges. In the video, he says this is “probably 40 per cent of the reason” he moved there.

He says: “I’m not a rapist, but I like the idea of just being able to do what I want. I like being free.”

The video was originally posted to his YouTube channel, but has since been deleted.

Andrew and his brother used web cam models to scam men out of money

In March 2022, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were making millions of pounds from their online business in which they used webcam models to coerce seemingly desperate men into handing over money after falling for their fake stories, The Daily Mirror reported.

The brothers have openly admitted this business is a “total scam” to the Daily Mirror. Tristan told the Sunday Mirror he does not feel any guilt as “no one cares”.

He has been investigated for human trafficking

In April 2022, Tate’s home in Romania was raided under an investigation of human trafficking. In a statement made to The Daily Beast, Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism said the raid on the internet star’s house was part of an investigation that began after a woman was reported to be held at the house against her will.

The investigation subsequently escalated to include “crimes of human trafficking and rape.” The investigation was ongoing when a spokesperson for the Romanian policy agency said no one had been charged or arrested as of April 27th. The Romanian police have yet to respond to The Tab’s request for an update on the investigation.

In a video shared by Romanian news site Gandul, you can see a number of armed police approaching the Tate house, however nobody appears to be getting arrested.

On their podcast, the two brothers addressed these claims, laughing at the matter as though it was a joke. Tristan Tate says the actual story of why his house was searched was: “A girl had been at a party at my house, and her boyfriend saw her Instagram stories.

“The girl said to her boyfriend that she didn’t want to come to the party and we wouldn’t let her leave, which is some bullshit excuse. So her boyfriend is obviously one of these believe all females. She was a hoe, she wasn’t even hot she was ugly.

“He then calls the fucking police and says my girlfriend is being held against her will by the Tate brothers. The police calls the American embassy, and the next day the police come to our house.”

He said he wouldn’t let his girlfriend go to the club without him

Tate said on a live stream that he would not allow his female partner to go to a club without him, out of fear she would find another male partner. These comments were the cause of controversy last week with Twitch streamer xQC calling him out on a live stream about his outdated views on gender equality and relationships.

xQC said in the debate: “I could rationalise the argument if most of the girls I dated had the IQ of somebody who cannot move, think or do anything, and is stuck on the side of the curb […] but it doesn’t make sense in the real world.

“You don’t park your f*****g girl on the curb of the club.”

He started an explicit feud with Greta Thunberg

When he was eventually allowed back on Twitter by Elon Musk, Tate used his available free speech on the app to goad climate activist Great Thunberg into a fight: “Hello @GretaThunberg,” he wrote. “I have 33 cars. My Bugatti has a w16 8.0L quad turbo. My TWO Ferrari 812 competizione have 6.5L v12s. This is just the start.

“Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”

Greta then replied with what most of the internet was thinking: “yes, please do enlighten me. email me at [email protected]

But things then took a dark turn when Jake Shields responded:”Andrew Tate and Greta Thunberg need to stop flirting and just fuck already.” And rather than  questioning whether using sex with a 19-year-old girl as the conclusion of an argument was the right thing to do, Tate creepily responded: “She ain’t ready”.
