PSA: ASOS is introducing a minimum spend for all Premier Delivery customers

What’s so premier about it, then?

ASOS have told Premier customers they’ll now need to spend a minimum of £10 in order to get free next day delivery.

This comes after months of speculation on the terms and conditions of their Premier service – in which customers pay a one-off fee of £9.95 in order to get next day delivery for an entire year. A dispute in the terms initially arose when ASOS opened up a new warehouse in Lichfield – meaning it was impossible for some customers to get their products the next business day. The issue has since been resolved and customers are now able to order Next Day Delivery on products coming from Lichfield.

The £10 cap will come into effect on the 31st May – but their exclusive email to customers doesn’t state why.

“We just want to say thanks for being a Premier customer,” the email reads. “As one of our faves, we want to give you a heads up about an upcoming change to your membership.

“Starting on 31 May 2022, Premier Delivery will be changing a bit. From then on, you’ll need to spend a minimum of £10 to get free Next Day Delivery. But don’t worry, if you spend below £10, you’ll still get our free standard delivery.”

Customers are already fuming at the brand, calling their service a “joke”. “Why am I having to pay more on top of every order for a service I’ve already purchased?” asked one person.

“The ASOS Premier Delivery is such a scam,” another person said. “Rarely get parcels next day and now they’re introducing minimum spends… trading standards here I come”.

In a statement to The Tab, an ASOS spokesperson said: “We want to provide our customers with an outstanding retail experience and know that a key part of this is ensuring we offer them a competitive Premier Delivery service. As part of changes to Premier Delivery, we’re introducing a £10 minimum spend threshold for Next-Day Delivery on our UK Premier Delivery service, which will come into effect from 31 May 2022.

“This will have a limited impact for a significant majority of Premier customers. All customers will still receive free Standard Delivery, with no minimum spend.

“If Premier Delivery customers have any questions on these changes, they can reach out to our Customer Care team.”
