Fear Street is the new Netflix anthology horror film series based off the book series of the same name by RL Stine. Part One: 1994 is already streaming and is in the top 10 most watched right now. It’s the film series everyone’s talking about – with an up and coming young cast, all three Fear Street films are dropping across the first three Fridays in July.

Fear Street Part One: 1994 is that film with all the 90s teen slasher nostalgia you’d ever need – mega gory, campy and fun. And, like the 90s slashers it pays loving homage to, the cast is mostly made up of the young actors of today. Can’t remember where you know Heather’s face from? Want to know why C. Heather, played by Maya Hawke

In an homage to Casey Becker (played by big name casting Drew Barrymore) being killed off within the opening sequence in Scream, Maya Hawke’s Heather is the first to fall prey to one of the Fear Street witch’s knife-wielding minions.

Maya Hawke is one of the most recognisable faces in the cast, known most widely for playing Robin in Stranger Things. She played Jo March in the 2017 Little Women miniseries. She’s also known for being the daughter of actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.

Deena, played by Kiana Madeira

Like Jamie Lee Curtis and many iconic scream queens before her, Kiana Madeira has starred in very little before her final girl lead role in Fear Street Part One: 1994. Before Fear Street, she appeared in The Flash as Spencer Young and had a lead role in Trinkets on Netflix.

Sam, played by Olivia Scott Welch

Before she was cast in all three of the Fear Street trilogy, Olivia Scott Welch has recently come to prominence after her lead role in the new Amazon original series Panic. She has also starred in Modern Family as Olive.

Josh, played by Benjamin Flores Jr

18-year-old Benjamin Flores Jr was a child actor in America, and has had main roles on Nickelodeon shows like The Haunted Hathaways and Dan Schneider’s Game Shakers. He was also cast in the Netflix sci-fi adventure film Rim of the World back in 2019.

Kate, played by Julia Rehwald

No-nonsense Kate is played by Julia Rehwald. The Fear Street trilogy is her professional acting debut, and she joins the cast with no other acting credits.

Simon, played by Fred Hechinger

Fresh off the back of his deranged role in this year’s Netflix mess The Woman In The Window, Fred Hechinger continued his horror streak after he was cast in Fear Street. He played Trevor in acclaimed indie film Eighth Grade and starred as John Calley in News of the World.

C. Berman, played by Gillian Jacobs

WHO IS C. BERMAN? All we know of Gillian Jacobs’ mysterious role is that she was the sole survivor of the 1978 massacre that will be the setting for the next Fear Street film, and she popped up in a brief cameo at the end of 1994. Gillian Jacobs is one of the most famous names in the trilogy, having starred as a main role in the TV shows Community, Invincible and Love.
