Hugo’s school students are posting all over TikTok about him, and they are *not* happy

Since Love Island 2021 started earlier this week, TikTok has been full of pupils from contestant Hugo Hammond’s school talking about him being on the show.

Before he entered the villa, Hugo was working as a PE teacher at Blundell’s School in Devon. The school is a fancy boarding school which costs £36,960 per year. Talking of his job with ITV, Hugo said: “I teach secondary school PE. Absolutely love my job. I love all my sports. It’s great to be able to pass on that enthusiasm to be physically active to the younger generation and hopefully they feel the same about me teaching them.”

Those posting on TikTok claim to have been taught by Hugo, saying he abandoned them to go into the villa. What’s more, the school has now released a statement saying that the 24-year-old will not be returning to his role there after his stint on the show. Here’s how everything has gone down.

If you saw your teacher on Love Island, you just would post about it, wouldn’t you? One, pretty jokes, TikTok captioned “we see you Mr Hammond” said how you go from being used to seeing your teacher around school, to now seeing him topless on TV. It had the Destiny’s Child song Bills playing in the background, like the recent trend.

Another claimed that Hugo lied about going to London and has left his pupils back in Devon. Whilst a further said “when he used to do HITT sessions with you now he’s going to be HITTING it in the villa”.

More have commented about not being able to reach their teacher, which is expected when he jets off to Mallorca for a summer of love like you don’t even exist. One was captioned: “come back sir we miss u” and one more said “hi mr hammond we miss u” with Olivia Rodrigo Brutal playing,  which honestly, is a lil bit heartbreaking.

And the school has confirmed Hugo will NOT be returning after he has been in the Love Island villa

There were questions of whether Hugo could return to work after the sex confessions challenge, when he said he’s had sex on a road before. I mean, it would be a bit awkward to then be one of his pupils, knowing intimate things like that about him. But regardless of his x-rated confessions, it looks like the school isn’t taking Hugo back after Love Island anyway. A spokesperson for the school confirmed to the Daily Star that Hugo had never actually been employed there, but instead filled a “very short placement”.

Yikes.
