BREAKING: Wayne Couzens pleads guilty to rape and kidnap of Sarah Everard

The police officer also accepted responsibility for Everard’s death


Police officer Wayne Couzens has pleaded guilty to the rape and kidnap of Sarah Everard.

At the Old Bailey, serving Met officer Couzens accepted responsibility for Everard’s killing but was not asked for enter a plea for the murder charge he faces.

33-year-old Everard disappeared while walking home from Clapham to Brixton on March 3rd.

Her body was discovered a week later in Ashford, Kent by detectives.

Couzens was arrested at his home in Kent and charged with Everard’s murder and kidnap.

He appeared at the Old Bailey today via video link from Belmarsh prison. A further hearing is due to take place on July 9th.
