Go to uni in Manchester? A new report has revealed just how healthy you’re predicted to be
Turns out the happiest uni in Manchester isn’t even the healthiest
Manchester’s universities have recently been ranked against other universities for the health of their students in a recent study by Chemist4U.
The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and Salford University were all featured in the rankings, alongside 123 other universities.
The University of Manchester was named the healthiest university in the city, raking 24th in the UK with a health score of 7.46.
Manchester Metropolitan was next along in the rankings, placing 81st with a score of 6.62.
Placing 91st, Salford University was the lowest ranked uni for health in Manchester, with a score of 6.40 placing it 91st in the tables.
However, despite its lower overall ranking, Salford beat both the Uni of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan with its happiness score, receiving a 7.22 to the other universities’ respective 6.85.
Scores were based on a variety of factors, including the number of sports facilities at each university, BUCS rankings, the number of sports clubs, happiness and anxiety scores and pollution scores.
Part of the reason for Manchester University’s high score was the number of indoor sports facilities it boasts. The university has the second highest number out of all UK universities, behind Nottingham University and joint with Loughborough.
