Oh god, is the ‘Phillies Karen’ actually fleeing America after *that* viral video?

People online have claimed she is leaving the US

Just about every corner of the internet has been flooded with “Who is the Phillies Karen?” and “What did she say?” after sports fans almost came to blows over a home run ball.

Last Friday, when the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins at Miami’s LoanDepot Park, Harrison Bader hit a home run that was sent spinning into the stands. People rushed to claim the ball, which was when father Drew Feltwell got into a verbal boxing match with the woman, who has since been dubbed the “Phillies Karen.” With her quintessentially Karen hair and equipped with a fierce middle finger, the woman went absolutely viral for being just awful.

Drew ultimately returned the ball to her because he was “just trying to set an example of how to de-escalate a situation in front of my son.”

Though the woman is yet to come forward with her side of the story – and let’s be honest, she proboably won’t – people online quickly misidentified her as both a school teacher called Leslie-Ann Kravitz, and a Red Sox supporter who quickly put rumours to rest.

The viral story has quickly become a cesspit of AI slop and misinformation. Case in point: Her fake ban from the stadium and now the rumour she is fleeing America.

Who started the rumour that the ‘Phillies Karen’ is leaving America?

In yet another example of why you shouldn’t trust everything you read on Facebook (sorry, mum), the rumour that the ‘Phillies Karen’ is leaving America is complete rubbish. I mean, it could be real, but considering we don’t even know who she is, how do we suddenly know she is leaving the United States?

The rumours, which have since spread to TikTok and Twitter, first began on a Facebook page called Meanwhile in Delco. On Sunday, it wrongly claimed that she could not leave her house without people screaming “ballsnatcher” at her.

Alongside an AI rendering of the STILL unidentified lady, it updated its followers with: “BREAKING: Phillies Karen makes public statement, plans to leave country and never come back. She claims everyone is treating here unfair.”

The fact that the Facebook page mispelled “her” should have been a big enough clue, but people fully fell for it in the comments.

“Leave! And don’t forget to give the ball back to the little boy,” one person wrote.

Another said, “Don’t forget to take off your Phillies Jersey too and turn in the ball.”

“Make sure you take your baseball with you,” someone else wrote.
