Right, what does 67 actually mean? Here’s why the random number is all over TikTok
Everyone needs answers
TikTok is full of all kinds of weird slang terms, but the latest one confusing everyone isn’t actually a word at all. It’s the number 67.
For months now, everyone’s FYP has been taken over by the random number, which is either written as “67” or “6-7” – but what does it mean?!
It’s blown up on social media even more this week, so here’s a full explanation.
Right, what does 67 mean on TikTok?
Everyone thinks 67 is a slang term that’s code for something, but it’s not at all. It’s actually just a reference to a song, which turned into a viral meme.
Let’s start at the beginning. It comes from a drill track called Doot Doot by Skrilla, which repeats the numbers “six” and “seven” over and over again.
Nobody really knows what the rapper was referring to in the song. Some people think it’s 67th Street in Chicago, but the lyric quickly got turned into a basketball joke.
People began making TikTok edits of basketball player Lamelo Ball joking that he moves like he’s 6ft 2 tall, but is really 6ft 7, and they went super viral.
Everyone then started answering any old question with the number “67”. For example, how old are you? 67. What time is it? 67. And that’s where the meme is at now.
The videos usually include a hand gesture where you move your hands up and down with your palms facing up. And you have to say the number in a specific voice.

So, it doesn’t actually mean anything at all
So, 67 is just a reference to this viral meme. There’s no real meaning to it, it’s literally just a number that was popularised by a meme.

It’s basically the new skibidi toilet. A random internet joke that doesn’t mean anything at all, people just say it because it’s funny. Except, it’s not funny at all.
In fact, the word skibidi actually just got added to the Cambridge Dictionary this week, defined as “a word that can have different meanings such as ‘cool’ or ‘bad,’ or can be used with no real meaning as a joke”.
That’s what 67 is too, a number that has no real meaning and is just a joke. This is what the internet has come to.
@mr_lindsay_sped I defined this back in February, but here it is again! #67 #genalpha #genalphaslang #teachersoftiktok #67
