Here’s what happened to Solid Rock Church from Death of The Pastor’s Wife, and new allegations

Netflix left this out of the documentary

Solid Rock Church is at the core of the new Netflix documentary, Death of the Pastor’s Wife, so here’s what happened to the church after the show and the new allegations that came out.

Evangelical church Solid Rock, where Pastor John-Paul and choir leader Mica met, was a megachurch based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The two entered an affair, despite John-Paul’s marriage to his wife, Alison Williams. John-Paul, 35 at the time, and Mica, 20, eventually married.

However, in 2024, Mica initiated a divorce, and JP was served with divorce papers. Two days later, she died by suicide.

Here’s exactly what happened to Solid Rock Church in the aftermath.

When Mica suddenly died in April 2024, protests began outside of the Solid Rock church. Every Sunday, a group of people would protest outside of the church, demanding “Justice For Mica” and raising awareness for domestic violence.

The protests went on for months, and eventually there was an alleged incident outside of the church where John-Paul was arrested for allegedly assaulting a protester, according to police records accessed by People. Shortly after that, in November, Solid Rock Church closed its doors. Three months later, John-Paul sold the land on which Solid Rock was built, reportedly for $2.1 million, according to Sun News. Allegedly, the church will be torn down, and the land will be turned into condos.

But even though he no longer operates out of the Solid Rock Church building, John-Paul continues to work with a small congregation of around 20 loyalists, including his new wife, Suzie.

There are even more allegations against JP outside of the docuseries

Since the docuseries, it’s been revealed that JP was accused of multiple other crimes, including the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl when he was 19. JP has continued to strongly deny these allegations.

The filmmaker behind the Death of a Pastor’s Wife series explained why they left this out of the series, saying: “In no way were we trying to excuse JP’s actions. Without JP participating, or without his dad participating, we couldn’t go into too much detail.”
