Where is Mica’s husband JP Miller now, as he awaits trial after Death of the Pastor’s Wife

One of the people at the centre of Netflix’s new true crime doc, Death of the Pastor’s Wife, is John-Paul “JP” Miller, so here’s where he is now.

The three-part documentary looks at Mica Miller’s relationship with Myrtle Beach pastor John-Paul “JP” Miller, the allegations surrounding their marriage and what happened before her death in April 2024.

So, where is JP Miller now?

After Mica’s death, JP remained in the Myrtle Beach area. He has also continued preaching, although Solid Rock Church, where he was pastor, has since been sold.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, JP now preaches to a much smaller congregation of around 15 to 20 people at pop-up locations around Myrtle Beach. Suzie Skinner, who was a member of the congregation, leads worship there.

In June 2025, JP married Suzie Skinner. Suzie had previously been married to Chris Skinner, who died in Myrtle Beach in September 2021. Her connection to JP has attracted renewed attention because Death of the Pastor’s Wife discusses allegations surrounding JP and Suzie.

Mica’s story included allegations of an affair involving Suzie, a member of the congregation. Those allegations have not been established as fact in a criminal court. JP has denied that he was having an affair with Suzie before Chris died.

JP Miller is facing federal charges

In December 2025, a federal grand jury indicted JP on two counts: Cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, the indictment alleges that JP sent unwanted and harassing communications to Mica from November 2022 until her death.

The allegations include having tracking devices placed on Mica’s vehicle, posting a nude photograph of her online without her consent and contacting her more than 50 times in one day. Prosecutors also allege that he interfered with her finances and damaged her vehicle tyres.

JP has pleaded not guilty and has not gone to trial yet. As per the latest update, a court-ordered continuance filed in August 2026 pushed his federal trial to the October 2026 term.

Filmmaker Michael Gasparro explained the delays, saying, “It was supposed to happen back in the spring. It got pushed in June, to August, and now it’s October.”

JP remains free on bond while he waits for the case to proceed. And importantly, he has not been charged with causing Mica’s death.

What exactly is JP accused of?

The cyberstalking charge relates to the alleged pattern of harassment prosecutors say took place before Mica died. The second charge alleges that JP made false statements to federal investigators.

The Justice Department says the indictment alleges that JP told investigators he did not damage Mica’s tyres. Prosecutors allege, however, that he had purchased a tyre-deflation device online and sent messages to other people about Mica’s vehicle.

If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison for cyberstalking and two years for making false statements, along with potential fines of up to $250,000, according to the Justice Department.

Mica was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina on April 27, 2024. Her death was ruled a suicide.

JP has faced intense scrutiny over the events surrounding her death, but he has not been charged with killing Mica.
