Reform UK sweeps Lancaster and Morecambe in the County Council election results

The 2024 County Council election results have just been called, with Reform UK taking most seats and Green in second place


The results of the Lancashire County Council election have been called, with the election being a part of England’s wider council elections.

The election took place on 1st May, and included a City Council by-election for the John O’Gaunt ward and Torrisholme ward.

In Lancaster and Morecambe, 10 county council seats were contested, with two city council by-elections taking place simultaneously.

The results show a victory for Reform UK, winning seven out of 10 seats. The Green Party has came in second amount of seats won with, claiming the remaining three seats.

This comes as there has been a nation-wide swing toward Reform UK, with by-elections, mayoral election and councils showcasing Reform wins.

Going into the election, the Lancashire County Council was led by the Conservatives with 46 seats, Labour at 26, Independents at four seats, Liberal Democrats at two seats and Greens with two seats. Three seats are described as having no political grouping, are believed to be one independent and two Reform UK seats, as well as one vacant seat.

The turnout for County Council election was reportedly at 31.82 per cent of constituents.
