Love Island star hits back at claims his newly renovated cabin is a former slave plantation

The ‘guest house’ was built in 1850

Jalen Noble, an influencer and former star of Love Island, has issued a retaliatory statement with receipts after people on TikTok claimed his newly renovated house was once a slave plantation.

In 2024, Jalen purchased a piece of land in Texas that came complete with a log-style cabin, a rundown barn, and enough space for just about any activities you could dream up. Soon after, people began stitching the videos and claiming that the property was once a slave plantation in the 1800s. Just last week, Jalen and his influencer girlfriend Monet McMichael entered their “renovation era” when they began working on a barn conversion on their Texas property. They were turning it into a gym, but again, people claimed that the barn was once the slave quarters.

“It’s sad to see y’all pretend this shouldn’t be a historic piece of land. I understand it’s now owned by a Black person, but that same Black person can’t even acknowledge what it is (‘guest house’),” one person commented, as another said, “Oh my god, y’all live on a plantation?”

Now Jalen has responded, and he brought receipts!

Jalen Noble’s Texas property is NOT a slave plantation

Excited to share this process! For now it’s a guest house, next it’ll make a perfect mother-in-law suite, and then hopefully we can convert it to a larger piece of the main house ❤️

Taking to TikTok this week, Jalen posted a video that detailed the real history of the property and how, as a Black man, he is “able to own a house that 175 years ago we were not able to.”

“For the history, I hired a genealogist and reached out to an architectural historian to tell me everything I need to know about this cabin,” he explained, revealing how the house was initially an “early settlers’ cabin” before being converted into a hunting lodge. In reality, the guest house was built in 1850, the barn turned gym in 1999, and the main house was built in 2016. The so-called slave quarters were built 165 years after slavery was abolished in the US.

“I also found out that someone with the last name Noble used to live here, which I thought was pretty cool,” he added.

“With this house being built in 1850, I do want to acknowledge the fact that I feel an overwhelming sense of empowerment every time I see it. There are no ties to slavery on this property.”

Though the internet was very loud when criticising Jalen, following his research, those same critics seem to be eerily silent. Nonetheless, people applauded Jalen in the comments.

“They’re going to want to speak to the genealogist personally & send a medium to the property FYI,” one person said.

Another wrote: “YEEEEESSSSSSSSSS I’m team Jalen and Monet I skip all y’all videos cause what like…cmon this is black people WINNING,” another wrote.

Someone else added: “I’m sorry he ate y’all up. The gym being built in 1999 has me screaming, y’all just knew this man was in the wrong.”
