Angelista exposes her ‘difficult’ Love Island 2026 experience with ‘no options’ in brutal tell-all

It’s been a few weeks since Love Island 2026 ended, but Angelista Gunda has now opened up about something she didn’t really talk about while she was in the villa.

Speaking to Paul Brunson on the We Need To Talk podcast, Angelista opened up about her experience as a Black woman on the show and admitted that she sometimes felt lonely compared to the other girls.

“My experience as a Black woman on Love Island, I felt like my experience was, it did feel lonely sometimes, compared to other female contestants.”

She was ‘hardly desired’ when she entered the villa

Angelista explained that when she first entered the villa, she struggled to find someone who was genuinely interested in her.

She said, “I walked in there, was hardly desired, and then when someone finally walked in that was gunning for me straight away.”

“When I finally had that, the one time, I felt like, now my narrative had to be a situation where he’s the player and I’m sitting around, and I’m just waiting for him to finish his dogs days,” she added. “When in reality, I had no options.”

During the series, Simba had opportunities to meet and explore connections with other girls. He kissed Mica during The Sleepover and later hit it off with Mara during Casa Amor.

Angelista, meanwhile, said she had nobody else she could realistically pursue. She said, “My hand was forced to sit here, because who else [is there]?”

She added, “I’m not going to chat to someone who’s not interested in me just for the sake [of it]. No one’s interested in me. And no one came in interested in me.”

There was one guy who did show an interest in her, though. Bombshell Chidi Ogandu was interested in Angelista when he arrived in the villa. The problem was that she didn’t feel the same way about him. And she even told him she was “scared” that he would pick her at a recoupling.

She felt like she was made to ‘look crazy’

After leaving the villa, Angelista said she started thinking about what had actually happened to her. She explained that she had spoken to her mum about it. And she felt that something about the way her experience had played out wasn’t right.

She said, “I was just sat there thinking, ‘Hold up, but like I had a really difficult experience, like in terms of my experience just as a Black woman. And I haven’t seen anyone else do it’.”

“That’s why I was like, let me say something. Because I really need to get it off my chest,” she added. “I was talking to my mum and I was just there like, ‘That wasn’t right, what happened. Because now I just look crazy.’”

She finally had someone who was “gunning for” her. But even then, she felt the story became about the guy being a player rather than the fact she had very few options herself.
