Wonky, the wee lamb from Scotland’s Western Isles, is inspiring people across the globe

Wonky is has been called a ‘fluffy warrior’ and ‘the embodiment of resilience’

A lamb born with a twisted neck on Scotland’s Isle of Lewis has taken TikTok by storm—earning the nickname Wonky and warming hearts across the globe.

The croft-born lamb faced an uncertain future from the moment she entered the world. Her neck was bent at an unusual angle, making it difficult for her to stand or feed on her own. But with a determined spirit (and more than a few gentle head rubs), Wonky has defied all expectations.

“She came out with her head tilted right round and we didn’t think she’d make it through the night,” said Mairi MacLeod, the crofter who delivered her. “But she was wriggling and baa-ing like she had something to prove.”

Mairi began sharing Wonky’s journey on TikTok—documenting everything from her bottle feeds to her first wobbly steps across the Hebridean grass. One especially heart-melting video, showing Wonky running (still a bit sideways) into Mairi’s arms, has now been viewed over three million times.

“She’s got a wee tilt, but she’s perfectly happy,” Mairi shared. “People have been sending messages from Canada to New Zealand saying she’s brightened their day. Who knew this wee lamb from the Western Isles would become such a star?”

TikTok commenters have called Wonky everything from a “fluffy warrior” to “the embodiment of resilience.”

One wrote: “If Wonky can keep going with her head literally on sideways, I can get through this week.”

Now a permanent fixture on the croft, Wonky spends her days munching grass, bouncing around the moors, and occasionally posing for her ever-growing fanbase. Her neck may still be wonky—but that’s exactly what makes her wonderful.
