Guys, McDonald’s Monopoly isn’t coming back for 2026 in the UK and this is why

Autumn won’t be the same

It’s just turned September, and this is usually the time everyone’s eagerly waiting for the launch of the beloved McDonald’s Monopoly. But guys, we have bad news. The promotion has been axed for 2026!

McDonald’s Monopoly has been a British staple for over two decades, first launching all the way back in 2005 and running throughout September and October.

The promotion usually starts around 10th September and runs for six weeks, during which time loads of McDonald’s menu items contain stickers that you peel off to win prizes like free food, holidays, cars and even £100k in cash.

But McDonald’s has confirmed to The Tab there will be no McDonald’s Monopoly at all in 2026. Why do I feel so sad? Autumn won’t be the same.

A spokesperson said in a statement to The Tab: “We know how much our customers love our promotions, from the brand-new launch of CARDS in March, to our first-ever XBOX partnership as part of the Side Missions launch.

“We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers, and while Monopoly won’t feature in 2026, we’ll continue listening closely to what they enjoy most as we shape future promotions.”

Basically, McDonald’s wants to focus on brand new and exciting promotions like CARDS meals and World Cup collectable cups, and they think McDonald’s Monopoly has run its course.

Even though most people have never actually won anything worth raving about, apart from the odd Apple Pie, hot drink or a Chicken McNugget Meal if you were lucky, its return always felt nostalgic.

Peeling off a sticker and seeing one of the best coloured properties like dark blue Mayfair or green Regent’s Park always sparked a tiny glimmer of hope that you could win that Mini Cooper or holiday to Spain.

McDonald’s hasn’t confirmed whether Monopoly will be returning next year. Let’s hope it’s just a one-year break, but the promotion could be gone for good. It feels like the end of an era.
