These MAFS Australia 2025 contestants rebelled and broke the show’s Instagram rules
Apparently it’s all part of their master plan to be influencers
Some of the many strict rules the MAFS Australia 2025 cast have to follow are about their Instagram accounts. But five different contestants seem to have gone rogue and broken the show’s rules this year. Here’s what we know.
Wait, MAFS Australia contestants don’t control their own Instagrams?
Yup, that’s right. It’s the norm on reality TV shows for the publicity teams to control contestants’ Instagram accounts. For years, the MAFS Australia team have sent contestants a selection of pics they’re allowed to post, and helped them write the captions. Out-there comments that are too mean about other contestants won’t be approved. All the posts have to be checked by the MAFS team before they go live. Cast members don’t have full access to their DMs. This measure stops the contestants from accidentally reading horrible comments about themselves.
The rules are reportedly stricter than usual this year. In previous years, MAFS contestants regained control of their Instagrams once the show had stopped airing in Australia. But in 2025, the date has been moved to 10th May – after the show finishes in the UK.

According to the Daily Mail Australia, Dave Hand and Veronica Cloherty defied the rules of the show. They changed the passwords of their Instagrams to lock the MAFS publicity team out of their accounts.

If MAFS contestants don’t have full access to all their messages, then it’s harder for brands to slip into their DMs and discuss deals with them. An anonymous MAFS bride told the Daily Mail: “I’ve had a few brands approach me, but they all say the same thing – I need control of my account before they’ll sign me.”
Dave and Veronica are apparently set on becoming influencers, so want to regain control of their accounts and start sorting brand deals.
Dave has signed up with an influencer agency, so it makes sense that he’s looking into that career path.
Three contestants made new accounts beyond the grasp of Channel Nine
Clint, Jacqui and Ryan have all gone a step further and started using whole other social media accounts which the MAFS publicity team don’t have any access too.
Clint started using an Instagram account previously dedicated to his two Samoyed dogs to discuss the show and post videos with the MAFS bride he’s currently living with. Jacqui abandoned her main Instagram account, and now uses the Instagram and TikTok for her jewellery business. She’s been making lots of claims on there about what went on behind the scenes of MAFS Australia.
Ryan seems to have started a whole new Instagram account where he’s been dragging Jacqui and commenting nasty things about MAFS viewers who disagree with him. All three of them have also broken the show’s rules about spoiling which couples last and which don’t.
