The sinister reason we haven’t seen Belle Gibson in years despite being offered huge money
She has always rejected interview opportunities
Belle Gibson’s twisted scam has been given new life thanks to Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar, but besides *that* 60 Minutes interview you’ve no doubt seen on TikTok, we rarely hear from the woman herself.
After claiming to have cured her terminal brain cancer using nothing but alternative therapies and specific nutritional advice, Belle’s fraud was exposed in 2015 as each and every one of her lies unravelled before her eyes. She briefly went off the grid before popping up again in 2020 when it was revealed she had integrated into Ethiopia’s Oromo community in Melbourne, Australia.
But besides a few brief sightings, Belle has largely flown under the radar until the release of Netflix’s new show that gave her controversy new life. But as it turns out, that vanishing act was a deliberate ploy as Belle rejected numerous interview opportunities – here’s why.
Like most of Belle Gibson’s choices, money was the reason she rejected offers
Belle Gibson is currently not on any social media platforms, and besides the news of her home being raided in 2019, we haven’t heard anything from her since the Oromo community rejected her. Though documentary filmmakers have reached out for comment, she “turned it down straight away.”
“There was $250,000 on the table for Belle to take part in a documentary series which would be a series of interviews that would explore her alleged personality disorder,” a UK-based casting producer told the MailOnline in a new interview. Belle turned it down straight away.

“The ‘doco’ style series would have required Belle to be vulnerable and honest. That could have been a real turning point in development. You would think a quarter of a million dollars would seem like a pretty sweet deal for Gibson, who is single and doing it tough in the north of Melbourne.”
The same casting producer theorised that she rejected the offer because the $250,000 would have landed her in hot water with debt collectors.

“Whatever money she received would have been absorbed into the $500,000 debt still owed basically. She would love the money. But I guess she doesn’t see the value in paying her debts, which is pretty disappointing,” they added.
Belle still blames ‘the media’ for her downfall
Another casting producer, who liaised with the British production team, further noted how Belle Gibson still believes the media contributed to her downfall back in 2015.
“The decision to hide from everyone has become Belle’s priority but that hasn’t helped anyone forgive or absolve her from faking having cancer and never properly admitting to it,’ they said.
“Belle was very concerned that taking part in the project would add more weight to the “narrative that she is a monster”, which she believes has been created by the media and doesn’t reflect reality.”
