What happened to all four of Charles Manson’s children? Here’s where his sons are now

Charles Manson is one of the most infamous names in American true crime, but his children have largely stayed out of the spotlight.

Before he was convicted in connection with the 1969 murders, Manson had four known sons with four different women. His sons were born between 1956 and 1968, meaning his youngest was just 14 months old when the Manson murders took place. Here’s what happened to each of them, from oldest to youngest.

Charles Manson Jr.

Charles Manson Jr. was Manson’s oldest son and was born in 1956 to his first wife, Rosalie Jean Willis.

He later changed his name to Jay White, seemingly wanting to separate himself from his father and the Manson name.

Very little is known about his life, but he died by suicide in 1993, aged 37. He had a son, Jason Freeman, who later became publicly connected to the Manson family.

Daniel Arguelles

Daniel Arguelles was born in 1959 after a brief relationship between his mother, Darlene Arguelles, and Manson, who was using the alias “Charlie Dear” at the time.

For most of his life, Daniel had no idea Manson was his biological father. He had suspected his stepfather, Jim, wasn’t his biological dad and questioned his mother about it when he was 21, but he didn’t get a definitive answer.

That finally changed in 2022 when an Ancestry.com match connected Daniel with Michael Brunner, another of Manson’s sons. DNA testing confirmed the pair were half-brothers and that Manson was Daniel’s father.

Charles Luther Manson was born on September 24, 1960, to Manson and Leona Rae Musser, who was known as “Candy Stevens”.

His parents married after Musser became pregnant, although she had previously claimed she was expecting Manson’s child in an attempt to gain sympathy for him during a court case.

Charles Luther never knew his father and his parents divorced when he was young.

In 1976, he legally changed his name to Jay Charles Warner. He died in Colorado in 2007.

Michael Brunner

Michael Brunner was born Valentine Michael Manson in 1968 to Mary Theresa Brunner, one of the first members of the Manson “family” cult.

He was only 14 months old when the murders happened.

His mother was later charged in connection with the murder of Gary Hinman, but received immunity in exchange for testifying against Manson and his followers Susan Atkins and Bobby Beausoleil. She later served prison time for her involvement in a plan to help Manson escape and was paroled in 1977.

Michael was raised by his maternal grandparents, Elsie and George Brunner, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They adopted him in 1976, meaning his biological mother legally became his sister.

He has described his childhood as mostly normal and spent much of it playing sports, including skiing, skating and biking.

Michael had no relationship with Manson growing up and ignored attempts from his father to contact him in prison.

He has since kept a very private life, working in manufacturing, raising a son and living with his partner on a 56-acre property in the Midwest.
