Here’s the ultimate Nottingham Galentine’s Day guide for all those who celebrate

Step aside Valentine’s Day, this one’s for the girls x

Inspired by the queen of waffles and wisdom, Leslie Knope (Parks and Rec), Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13th as a time to shower your besties with love, appreciation, and excessive amounts of pink!

Whether you’re keeping it cozy at home or heading into town, here’s everything you need to plan a Galentine’s for the history books (or at least your Instagram Story).

Pick a theme

Pink PJs? Glam? Board game night? Spa? Make it a whole thing and don’t let anyone slack.

Go shopping for some decorations: Balloons, streamers, heart confetti, the works. The more over-the-top the better.

And don’t forget the playlist. I would recommend adding a little Celine Dion for some dramatic singalongs.

Cocktails (or mocktails)

It’s a girls night, so the drinks should match the occasion. Think pink mimosas, strawberry daiquiris or a rosé spritzers with heart-shaped strawberry ice cubes (yes, more is more).

Some options:

Pink Lady: 50ml gin, 15ml apple brandy, 15ml grenadine, one egg white.

Strawberry Sparkle: 150g fresh strawberries, 50ml vodka, soda water, fresh lime juice.

Rosé Sangria: Rosé of your choice (probably chicken wine?), orange juice, strawberries and a dash of triple sec.

Or just add cranberry juice to pretty much anything for a splash of pink.

Heart-shaped pizzas

Nothing says love like cheese, carbs, and a heart-shaped crust. Make your dough, pick your toppings, put your creation in the oven, then cross your fingers that it turns out to be heart shaped.

Bonus points for anyone who stays far away from pineapple (please).

Sweet treats, of course

Because what is a celebration without a sugar overload? Cupcakes, chocolate strawberries, brownies, or a cake smothered in pink frosting – there are no wrong answers.

Buy in or bake yourself. Jane’s Patisserie is a great place to look for recipes.

Rom-com marathon

The Notebook (for a good cry), Legally Blonde (for the girl boss energy), and Bridesmaids (iconic).

Get cosy, grab some snacks and settle in. I would highly recommend bringing face masks for a pampered screening.

Get creative

Option one: DIY craft night. Make friendship bracelets, coquette-ify your wine glasses or paint candles for your empty wine bottles (don’t pretend you don’t have any). Arts and crafts plus gossip, yes please.

Option two: PowerPoint night. Prompts include: Who would survive the Hunger Games? What reality show would your friends be on? Pros and cons (keep it lighthearted please) of everyone in the group?

Brunch

Treat yourself to a date with the girls.

Think baked goods at Public, latte art at Yolk, Buck’s Fizz at Bill’s or the Cozy Club for the works. Wherever you choose, it’s a great excuse to put on your favourite outfit.

Go out out

Ready for a boogie?

Dress up, down a couple of dragon soups and prepare for the hangover on Friday.

Shapes Thursday is always a good option, or head to Girls Only night at Secret Vault. Actually, it’s on the 11th… but no boys allowed? Screams of Galentine’s.

Bowling (& booze optional)

Maybe it’s been years since you’ve been, but there’s nothing like bowling to bring all the girls together.

Boozy options are available at the Roxy Ball Room or DiscoBowl, but beware you might need to put the barriers up.

Turns out £13 pitchers and strikes do not go hand in hand. You can also use the arcade after if you’re not ready for your trip to end.

Hopefully now you have some ideas for planning your Galentine’s! Whether you’re sipping cocktails in your PJs or having a boogie, make sure that you’re surrounded by your girls on the 13th to celebrate – enjoy! x
