This Love Islander turned down invite to Molly and Tom’s Majorca wedding, and here’s why

People are majorly calling him out

A Love Island cast member has revealed he was invited to Molly Smith and Tom Clare’s wedding in Majorca over the weekend, but turned it down.

Molly and Tom got married in a stunning clifftop ceremony overlooking the sea at Son Marroig, a traditional Mallorcan mansion that used to belong to a famous Spanish archduke, Archduke Luis Salvado.

Anton Danyluk, who was on All Stars with Tom and Molly and watched them get together, got an invite to the celebrations, but turned it down because he had just given up alcohol.

“Tom and Molly got married yesterday. I wish I’d been there. Here’s why I wasn’t,” he wrote on Instagram. “At the start of the year I got invited. It was an honour, because these two are genuinely my favourite people that came off the show. But I turned it down. And it wasn’t an easy decision.

“Because at the time I was invited, I’d just made the decision to stop drinking. I went five months this year with no alcohol. And honestly, I felt amazing. But what I realised in those five months was that drinking was never really the problem. The problem was knowing when to stop.

“Since then, I drink on the odd social occasion. A few, then I stop. Has it got out of hand once or twice? Yeah. But it’s still a world away from where it used to be, and I’m okay with that.”

Anton said if he “knew then what he knows now,” he would have gone to the wedding and accepted it’s about “the occasion” and control”. But at the time, he had to say no to learn that.

He continued: “And that’s the lesson. Sometimes in life you have to say no to something you really want to say yes to. Because you have to look out for yourself first. It might not look like the right call later. But for where you are right then, it is. Congratulations you two. I’m gutted I missed it, but I couldn’t be happier for you.”

While Anton was seemingly trying to spread an important message, it hasn’t exactly landed very well. People are majorly calling him out for making Tom and Molly’s wedding all about him, while others think it’s really unfair that he revealed they had got married before the couple even announced it. Messy Mitch agreed: “Give it a rest Anton pal, this is weird.” Oh dear.
