Who different Sheffield halls would be if they were House of the Dragon characters

Absolutely zero bias detected in these choices

Freshers’ week is fast approaching. Thousands of students from around the country, and around the world, are preparing to move to Sheffield for the first time, and are excited and anxious in equal measure.

One of the biggest concerns incoming freshers might have is accommodation: Did I chose the right halls? Who will I be living with? Will my room be big enough? The question they should be asking is: Who would my halls be if they were a House of the Dragon character?

Derwent – Daemon

via HBO/Google Maps

If Derwent were a House of the Dragon character, it would be Daemon. Why? Because it’s just the coolest by far.

Derwent is close to the village shop and the Edge, as well as Endcliffe Vale Road for Ubers and Deliveroos. It’s also more fun than every other Sheffield halls.

Howden – Rhaenyra

Toast and jam, fish and chips, Ant and Dec – some things just come in pairs. So do Daemon and Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon. So if Daemon is Derwent, Rhaenyra must be Howden.

Everything that makes Derwent great also applies to Howden. The only difference is 20 more yards to walk from Howden if you’re getting an Uber – but that’s splitting hairs.

Like Daemon and Rhaenyra, they’re the two coolest characters, and which you prefer is mostly just a matter of taste.

Elements – Corlys

via HBO/Google Maps

In the books, Lord Corlys is the coolest man in Westeros.

He’s sailed the entire world, fought monsters and collected amazing treasures. But we don’t see any of that in the House of the Dragon show. Elements is much the same.

In theory, it’s better than other Sheffield halls, being closer to the city centre and all – round much snazzier. In reality, it’s no better. Sure, it’s closer to the city centre, but if you’re walking to West Street for a night out and it’s raining, the journey is still longer than you’d want it to be.

As for the cooler design of its rooms – beauty is only skin deep.

Ranmoor – Larys Strong

via HBO/Google Maps

What goes on in Ranmoor? What is Larys up to? Two questions that no one knows the answers to beyond: “Presumably nothing good.”

Accessible only by that creepy footpath through the wall on the main road, and hiding behind trees, Ranmoor seems shifty and like it’s got something to hide. Just like Larys.

Vale – Aemond

via HBO/Google Maps

Vale is Aemond. Vale is a little cooky, a little quirky, and a little bit of an oddball. It’s the ugly duckling of the Endcliffe village, as it’s the odd one out in terms of design and is just that little bit out of the way.

Some people might make fun of it, but it’s also got a lot of fans.

City – Viserys

via HBO/Google Maps

In theory, City is the best option for student halls in Sheffield. West Street is right there. Campus is right there. Wherever you’re going, one step out of your door, and you’re basically halfway there. But it’s the most boring of all Sheffield halls, and most people who live there probably wish they were somewhere else – which is why City is Viserys.

Viserys is King, so his life should be absolutely perfect, but instead it’s full of suffering and pain, and the guy is basically a failure.
