No ifs or buts, these are the 26 most iconic Pixar films ranked from worst to best
Cars 2 can burn in hell
The Pixar movies all hold extremely sentimental places in our childhoods. Some of us are hardcore Toy Story stans, whilst others rightly prefer a bit of superhero action that only The Incredibles can provide.
So of course, ranking the best Pixar films should be done with sensitivity for the importance they hold in many of your hearts. That being said, I am going to completely slag off anyone who disagrees with this order. I am right. You are wrong. Good talk. Without further ado, lets start with last place…
26. Cars 2
What the hell was it about? Mator is a spy and there’s racing and I’m confused. This is such an out of pocket film concept that related to nothing about Radiator Springs or the importance of wholesome life that was established in the first movie. Weird. Wrong. I don’t like it. And then in the third film they just pretend this one never happened.
25. Lightyear
It’s a no from me. Buzz Lightyear just looks too strange being young.
24. Cars 3
Again, what was it even about? I don’t care. That’s what.
23. The Good Dinosaur
I’d rather watch The Land Before Time movie, personally. The dinosaur is cute though.
22. A Bug’s Life
If you really think this is one of the best Pixar films, you’re a loser.
21. Luca
Most Read
Although the plot was lukewarm, I really enjoyed it. It’s just not as good as the others. Sucks to suck.
20. Turning Red
I really liked the plot of Turning Red. It felt more fleshed out and interesting than Luca. And Turning Red has a red panda. That instantly makes it better. Case closed.
19. Incredibles 2
Wasn’t obsessed with it. It lacks any emotional attachment because it came out SO late after the first one. And the first one just blows this one out of the water. “Where is my supersuit? You are a tiny god!” You don’t get lines like that in Incredibles 2.
18. Onward
Fun, silly, cool animation. Love, love, love. Yes I am just saying this because Tom Holland is in it. Mind your own business.
17. Toy Story 4
Shit fest, I’m sorry. The series should have ended after Toy Story 3 and I will die on that hill. Yes, I get the whole thing of Woody goes off with Bo Peep and he gains a sense of autonomy over his own self worth instead of hinging it all on the attention that children give him… but it still sucked. Sporky? Actually get over yourself. Grow up.
16. Soul
Honestly I think this is a really good movie but I’m not emotionally mature enough to properly deep it. The animation and the whole aesthetic of the film is stunning.
15. Monsters University
The only good thing to come out of this movie was the adorable baby Mike Wasowski. Look at his little braces.
14. Finding Dory
Finding Dory? Why did they bother. Should have left her where she was. Maybe this is more about my beef with Ellen DeGeneres than anything else. RIP Dory you would have loved voice notes.
13. Coco
This is getting a lot harder now, I want Coco to be further up but it can’t compete with the older Pixar movies. Such a fun and colourful film, strong storylines. Delightful.
12. Inside Out
I liked inside out. I thought it was sad. Take her to the moon for me? That hurt my feelings. But Joy, ironically, is such an irritating presence. Let sadness be sad in peace. Sadness deserved to be treated so much better. She would have loved Phoebe Bridgers. Joy would have loved Prozac.
11. The Incredibles
Incredibles didn’t quite make the top 10. It is a great movie. But the competition is so strong. Violet would have hated Life360.
10. Toy Story
An incredible film, the film that started it all. I love this movie. The reason it’s not further up is because the graphics haven’t aged amazingly and Sid the kid with the buzz cut really freaks me out. Also Woody and Buzz’s beef in this movie really irks me. I feel as though Woody and Ross from friends have the same core in the worst way possible.
9. Brave
I know this may be controversial but I don’t care. Brave deserves to be in the top 10. The soundtrack is so delicious it makes me want to be a cottage core fairy, the bears are adorable, and mother daughter relationships being explored in children’s films? Yes, yes, yes. Also her hair is really satisfying to look at. If you have a problem with Brave’s position you can take it up with the entire country of Scotland x
8. Toy Story 2
I have been at massive odds with this. Is Toy Story 2 better then Toy Story 3, I just don’t know. The “when somebody loved me” sequence made me really upset as a child to the point where I could never throw away any of my toys. But Toy Story 3… The tragic backstory of Lotso. What a villain arc. But also the fact that Woody was able to hold onto a planes landing gear is extremely farfetched, ignoring the fact that he is a toy that is sentient.
7. Toy Story 3
I’ve decided my gut instinct was correct and Toy Story 3 is better than Toy Story 2. The Ken and Barbie star crossed lovers, the sad abandoned baby toy. The scene where they’re all holding hands as they’re about to get incinerated. Extremely good film. 10/10.
6. Monsters Inc
This is self explanatory it’s incredible in every way.
5. Finding Nemo
Iconic, legendary, never been seen before. So many layers, I love. The teetotal sharks, the serious fish with the scar helping Nemo escape. The stoner turtles. I love it. LOVE. It’s one of the best Pixar films ever, I don’t make the rules.
4. Cars
Life is a highwayy. Such a good film. A perfect movie. The entire thing, chefs kiss. It’s so well thought out. It makes you wonder how they went so wrong with Cars 2.
3. Ratatouille
They just don’t come up with stuff like this anymore. A rat? That can cook? That befriends a human and controls him through his hair? Genius. Cars is straight forward, that movie writes itself. Ratatouille required some serious thought and imagination that cannot be replicated. The food also looked so aesthetically pleasing I could watch the actual ratatouille construction sequence over and over.
2. Wall-E
Why am I crying over two robots in love?? And the message of this film is really lovely. Take care of the planet, take care of each other. If robots can do it then you sure as hell can. Gorgeous.
1. UP
The first 10 minutes alone would make it to number one. The rest of the film is just a lucky bonus. Russel is adorable, the dog is hilarious, and everything about this movie is heartbreaking. Girls don’t want Harry Styles, they want Karl from Up to love them until they die, and then keep loving them after that. Not to end on a sombre note or anything, but it’s true.
And that concludes the definitive ranking of the best Pixar films. If you feel like torturing yourself watch them in reverse order and witness the deterioration x
