Lancaster Bus Station stands reopen following emergency roadworks

Stands 12 through 20 have fully reopened after emergency drain repairs

The roadworks affecting dozens of daily bus services, including popular student bus routes, through Lancaster bus station have now been completed.

This means stands 12 to 20 can reopen and services will return to normal.

This side of the station has been closed since mid-May due to emergency repairs on a collapsed drain.

This affected routes including: the 1, 1A and 100, which were unable to stop at the bus station, instead stopping at Parliament Street for University-bound routes, and Lancaster Sainsbury’s for Morecambe and Heysham-bound services.

This closure also affected the 40, 41 and 2X services.

In a short statement, a spokesperson for Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire said: ”We are pleased to announce Lancaster Bus Station has now fully reopened. All services will now return to normal route.”

The repair work was anticipated to take considerable time, with no date for re-opening the stands announced. However, the roadworks were completed faster than expected, enabling services to return to normal.
