Okay, here’s why Chappell Roan shouted at a photographer on the VMAs red carpet
She was filmed shouting ‘shut the f*ck up’
Chappell Roan went viral within minutes of arriving at the VMAs last night, after footage came out of her shouting back at a photographer and telling him to “shut the f*ck up”. The video is the most talked about the moment of the night, with everyone wondering what caused Chappell Roan to shout back at the VMAs photographer – and thankfully she has actually given an explanation because it wasn’t really clear what went down.
The original video shows Chappell Roan posing on the VMAs red carpet, before whipping round and arguing with the photographer – shouting “you shut the f*ck up.” She then says “No. Not me, b*tch.”
But what actually went down? Chappell Roan explained further in an interview what led to the disagreement.
Chappell Roan explains to ET that she was scared going in front of all the photographers. “This is quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets, um, a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you – the carpet is horrifying. I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that.”
Chappell is referring to when red carpet arrivals at the VMAs have to stand in front of the press cameras who all shout the celeb’s names for pictures. Chappell Roan performed her smash hit single Good Luck Babe live at the VMAs last night, giving an insane performance inspired by Joan of Arc – as well as taking home the coveted moon man trophy for Best New Artist. Considering nobody can stop speaking about her and the music is next level great, I’d say it was thoroughly deserved.
