Chappell Roan finally speaks out about release date for her new song, The Subway

She has been gatekeeping a banger for her live audiences only

If you’ve turned on any radio recently, you’ll definitely have heard of the iconic Chappell Roan. She basically became famous overnight, and her music was the perfect upbeat vibe we needed this summer, skyrocketing her album streams and presence online. Since Chappell Roan has plunged into stardom, she’s headlined some major shows like the Gov Ball and Lollapalooza, and every time she’s teased her audience by playing her new unreleased song, The Subway.

The song sounds absolutely AMAZING and is another credit to her incredible vocals. But, she’s performed the song many times now with no sign of releasing it as a single.

I guess she’s still riding the high of her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which is rapidly crawling up the Billboard hot 100. However, since the release of Good Luck, Babe! in April 2024, her fanbase has been begging for new music, and hearing The Subway played at her live shows blew everyone away.

So, when can we expect it to come out?

Chappell Roan recently spoke about her skyrocketing success and future music plans in an interview with Interview Magazine. In the discussion, she was asked about her “arrhythmic” jump to fame and if it would impact her release of more music. Bowen Yang asked her: “I don’t know what the release plan with ‘The Subway’ is, but I feel like if you want that to just be a song that you sing live for a while.”

To which she responded with: “That’s how I did the first album and it fucking worked.” Looks like she’s made her mind up about releasing it later rather than sooner.

She continued to describe her past release trajectories: “My career has worked because I’ve done it my way, and I’ve not compromised morals and time. I have not succumbed to the pressure. Like, ‘Bitch! I’m not doing a brand deal if it doesn’t feel right. I don’t care how much you’re paying me.’ That’s why I can sleep at night.”

I guess this means Chappell Roan fans will be losing sleep wishing their new favourite song, The Subway, had a release date. It also proves that Chappell is doing Chappell, and she won’t be rushed into releasing anything before she’s ready. We’ll still support you queen but please give us more music!!
