TikTok discovers true crime doc used an actor’s picture instead of Jeffery Dahmer’s

Don’t bring Austin Moon into this

True crime documentaries are only getting more popular, and and as with any documentary, especially those focused on true crime, they need to be well-researched and accurate in their details. With the recent release of Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story starring Evan Peters, lots of people are going back and re-watching old true crime documentaries.

But TikTok users including @theemmaclaire and @ash_tokyo found this awkward mistake in a true crime documentary on Netflix, Inside the Criminal Mind. In it, a criminology professor discusses Jeffery Dahmer and describes him as “the most infamous cannibal serial killer” before we are shown a picture of… Ross Lynch???

For those who want a look for themselves, it’s still not been edited, and it probably never will be considering the episodes came out in 2018, but seriously how did nobody notice for three whole years? The mistake can be seen in episode one of Inside the Criminal Mind, called Serial Killers, at roughly 12 minutes and 30 seconds in.

In 2017, Ross played the infamous serial killer in the film My Friend Dahmer. It seems the editors must have got confused?

The TikTok comments are just a confused as we are, with someone commenting “WHY DOES IT SET IT UP LIKE ROSS DID IT???”, and another asking “How did they not fact check this?”

So just in case you were worried that Ross Lynch had an awful double life, don’t worry, he’s still our wholesome Austin Moon.

Both Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and Inside the Criminal Mind are available now on Netflix. For all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
