The highly anticipated adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Conversation With Friends drops on BBC Three this weekend. The 12 part series has quite a few impressive cast members including Sex Education’s Jemima Kirke and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

Conversations With Friends tells the story of university students Frances and Bobbi who were once together but are now just friends. They meet Melissa who is in her early 30s and works as an essayist and photographer. Melissa introduces the girls to her husband Nick and soon the four of them begin a series of complicated entanglements.

The series begins on BBC Three at 10pm this Sunday with the first two episodes being shown. This is everything you need to know about the main cast members of Conversations With Friends and where you’ve seen them before:

Frances – Alison Oliver

23-year-old Irish Alison Oliver is taking on the lead role in the adaption of Conversations With Friends. She’s playing the character of Frances who ends up having an affair with Nick.

This is Alison’s first ever acting role which she got after graduating from the Lir National Academy of Dramatic Art in Dublin in 2020.

In an interview with WWD, Alison said she was glad her first role was an Irish one and that her next project is a BBC show called “Best Interests”.

Bobbi – Sasha Lane

Sasha Lane takes on the role of Bobbi, who is Frances’ ex who grows close to Melissa the wife of Nick.

American Sasha is 26 years old and has been acting since 2016. Her debut was as the lead of the film American Honey alongside Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough.

Since then she’s gone onto star in the Marvel series Loki and a number of films including Heart Beats Loud and The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

In 2020 Sasha gave birth to her daughter and she currently has over 170,000 Instagram followers.

Nick – Joe Alwyn

Despite what he may want, Joe Alwyn is probably best known for being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend since 2016.

However he does actually act. Joe began his acting career in 2016 in the film Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. Since then he’s appeared in The Favourite and Mary Queen of Scots amongst many others.

In Conversations With Friends Joe takes on the role of Nick who is married to Melissa but is having an affair with Frances.

Melissa – Jemima Kirke

Jemima Kirke is perhaps the most well known of the Conversations With Friends cast members. She’ll be playing the role of Melissa.

37-year-old Jemima has been acting since 2005. Her first breakthrough role was in Lena Dunham’s Girls as the character Jessa who she played for five years.

Since then she’s starred in Netflix’s Sex Education and Untogether. Jemima has two children with her ex husband Michael Mosberg. Now she’s in a relationship with musician Alex Cameron.
