Married At First Sight dating experts

Meet the three dating professionals on Married At First Sight UK

Mel Schilling, Paul C Brunson and Charlene Douglas did the matchmaking

Married At First Sight UK is well underway now, with all the chaotic weddings and honeymoons done and dusted and the couples all moved into their apartment block. We’ve only been watching the newlywedded strangers for a week and already there’s been chaos, carnage, removals, cheating scandals and even some unexpected actual love. Love Island could only wish for this level of drama in its opening week. Honestly. But there’s three unsung heroes of the whole proceedings that we haven’t really got much back story on, and that’s the Married At First Sight dating experts.

We get told that Mel Schilling, Paul C Brunson and Charlene Douglas are the expert matchmakers who have suited the couples together before their wedding, and we see their analysis of their relationship dynamics. But who are these three E4 Cupids? What do they do when they aren’t causing reality TV chaos? Meet the three experts who helped put together your latest obsession.

Mel Schilling

Mel has already proved herself as the icon of the group with her no nonsense approach during the commitment ceremonies – where she makes sure she gets probing answers and won’t let either party speak over the other. She’s been an integral part of Married At First Sight Australia for years, and now the UK version has rebranded to match the success of our counterpart from down under, Mel has come over to lend her expertise.

She graduated from University of Melbourne in psychology, and has been a human behavioural specialist for over 20 years. So when she dissects the couples, she knows exactly what she’s talking about! Mel is married herself, too – wedding her long term partner last year.

Paul C Brunson

Paul describes himself as “the world’s most influential matchmaker”, as well as a TV presenter, entrepreneur and author. He’ll be familiar to a lot of viewers for his role as the love doctor on Celebs Go Dating. His book is titled “It’s Complicated (But It Doesn’t Have to Be): A Modern Guide to Finding and Keeping Love”. Paul also runs and manages his own matchmaking firm that was established in 2o09.

Paul and his wife Jill work together too, and they have two sons together.

Charlene Douglas

Charlene is a London based sex and relationship therapist, so helps the newlyweds with the intimacy details and knows the ins and outs of their private love life. Charlene does a lot of coaching online for couples in the UK and beyond to help improve their love lives with her guidance and professional advice.

Like Mel, this is her debut as one of the Married At First Sight UK dating experts. Charlene has however previously appeared as a sex therapist on another E4 show called The Sex Clinic.
