In weirdly specific and aspirational news, researchers have found the exact 33 degrees you should study if you want to earn the most money.

This is a university league table of some description, so the top places are naturally dominated by Oxbridge. Move beyond that, though, and there are some more attainable gems to be discovered.

Sociology at Birkbeck could net you £60,000 five years after graduating, perhaps owing to the fact most grads from the London uni are already a bit grown up. Pharmacology at Keele is a lucrative option, with the luckiest grads from that course bagging £48,300.

Researchers from careers website AppJobs analysed Department of Education data to compile the list, which is based on the highest prospective salary for each subject five years after graduating.
