| UPDATED

Abbey and David from Love on the Spectrum have sadly split after five years following differences about when they wanted to get married.

A source has claimed to The US Sun that their relationship is over, claiming: “Sadly it’s true that David and Abbey broke up. They couldn’t come to an agreement on when to get married. She was ready years ago, he still needed time.”

Another insider close to David claimed: “They did break up, but he is doing very well.” Abbey previously opened up to Rolling Stone about when she and David would be ready to get married, stating she thought it would happen “probably in late 2025.”

She explained on the Unplanned Podcast that she’s already started thinking about the food that would be on offer, describing that cookies, Costco pizza, and Yum Yum Donuts will all be on the menu. A genuine dream.

She added: “I’ve always always wanted to be old enough to get married. Marriage means I’m like a princess.”

However, the pair have also openly talked about their living arrangements for after they get married, as neither of them is prepared to live on their own yet.

Abbey’s mum explained: “It doesn’t have to be in the traditional sense of what a neurotypical person would make it look like.

“You can have your place, he can still have his place. You can still do what you do until you’re ready to move in together…so that they can make that commitment without having it to upheaval everything else.”

She added: “I think in today’s world, marriage can look like whatever you want it to look like, as long as your heart’s in the right place.”

Prior to their split Abbey admitted she didn’t want to rush into marrying David because of her parents, as the Love on the Spectrum star told Us Weekly why they want to “take their time.”

She explained: “We have fun together and do things we both love like going to the Los Angeles Zoo and Griffith Observatory.

“We want to take our time getting married because I don’t want to be a divorced lady like my mom.”

Abbey also opened up about some of the relationship struggle she and David have been dealing with, saying: “We are working on our communication skills because we have different kinds of autism,.

“I am a Gestalt learner and think in memories, and he is very patient with me, and we are still working hard on understanding each other.”
