MAFS UK’s Steven reveals what really happened as he’s seen ‘stopping Nelly from drinking’
People are calling out his ‘controlling’ behaviour
People are calling out Steven from MAFS UK’s “controlling” behaviour after he appeared to tell Nelly to stop drinking at the latest dinner party, but he’s since clarified what actually happened.
While they were all sitting around the table at the retreat, it looked like the groom stopped his wife from picking up her wine glass, telling her not to drink any more alcohol as she was too drunk.
“Uhhh did anybody catch Nelly going for her drink and Steven telling her no more?! Ewww,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another added: “That was the worst thing in the whole episode Nelly was clearly not drunk. So controlling, and diminishing her opinions by suggesting she was. I hated that.”
“Why did he stop her having a drink like she was child? Nelly… please run,” someone else said.
However, Steven has since spoken out on Instagram and revealed that’s not actually what happened. The whole scene has been taken way out of context.

In a post on his story, Steven clarified that Nelly had accidentally picked up his glass of wine by mistake, so he was just telling her to put it down and drink her own instead.
“Yes, before anyone says anything… that was my wine Nelly tried to take (not her own one). I was enjoying my red one,” he said, clearing up the rumours.

Steven went on to explain why he decided to defend Julia-Ruth’s explosive behaviour, a move that shocked everyone in the room and at home.

“Ohhh and whilst I’m at it… I was annoyed that I was sat opposite everything for 45 minutes longer than what I should have. The whole group were going round and round in circles and getting nowhere,” he said.
“I wanted Divarni to get his answers to his questions, not the other way round! I’m there and married to one person and one person only and my eyes were no one else other than the wife.”
