Ew, you’ll be shocked at what the lyrics of TikTok’s viral São Paulo song ACTUALLY mean
It’s worse than the Brazilian one
Another viral song has taken over TikTok, which is no surprise at this point. But this one? It’s gone viral for all the wrong reasons. The song São Paulo has an undeniably catchy melody — it sounds a lot like Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind. But underneath the beat are some seriously graphic lyrics that are… well, kind of disgusting.
@simpfor.harry i love #saopaulo ♬ São Paulo (Spanish) – Tocanna
The thing is, the song’s in Spanish. So if you don’t speak the language, you’d probably assume it’s just a passionate ballad about the Brazilian city. Spoiler: It’s not.
Here’s what the words actually mean: “In any corner I’d give you my p***y/ On Paulista Avenue, I’d s**k you off until I’m h***y / How about a bath? Let’s go to the Tietê River / It smells like bum’s p**s, the perfect scent to s**k you off / Nothing’s gonna stop you from breaking my a** in the city of São Paulo / They can rob me or stab me I’m gonna f**k in São Paulo, São Paulo, São Paulo.”
So yeah, pretty gross.

@passengerprincessnsx Back with another song translation since you guys liked my last one- São Paulo by Tocana Also not too hard on my dancing, I tried 😂 #saopaulo #translation #tocana #songtranslation #fypシ ♬ São Paulo (Spanish) – Tocanna
The song is by Tocanna, an AI-generated artist who’s currently blowing up online with over 210,000 followers on Instagram, 171,000 on TikTok, and more than 420,000 monthly Spotify listeners. But here’s where it gets even messier. Tocanna doesn’t exist, and the track’s origins have already stirred up drama with Jay Z himself, who’s reportedly trying to get it removed from Spotify.
Originally, São Paul started as a parody of Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ classic Empire State of Mind. It’s got the same grand, city-loving energy, except instead of romanticising New York, Tocanna turns São Paulo into the backdrop for a chaotic night out. The song was first recorded in Portuguese, then reworked into Spanish and English after going viral.
Instead of celebrating the skyline, Tocanna celebrates sex, chaos, and cracked pavements. It’s absurd, and — depending on who you ask — kind of hilarious. That’s exactly why it’s taken over TikTok. People are using the track in memes, reaction videos, and challenges.

Tocanna (yes, the AI) has “responded” in a generated video, saying: “The success of the song bothered people, especially because it went viral in Spanish. And I thought that was beautiful.”
It’s all fake, and that’s the point. Whether you think it’s genius or gross, São Paulo is totally unhinged.
