Apple has updated iOS 26 after it was slammed online, so here’s exactly what it fixes
It’s doing damage control
Just when you thought you’d gotten used to Apple’s iOS 26 update and its shiny new liquid glass aesthetic, Apple has thrown people a lifeline in the form of iOS 26.0.1. The update, officially released on Monday, is Apple’s first attempt to tidy up the mess left behind by the original iOS 26 rollout. And, let’s be honest, some of us were already regretting our eagerness to update.

iOS updates are always a bit of a rollercoaster, and iOS 26 was no exception. People reported all sorts of issues, such as disappearing WiFi and bluetooth connections, blank app icons, and even some genuinely weird photo glitches. Apparently, taking pictures at concerts with bright LED lights could leave your photos looking like they’d been censored. Apple swears this rare bug has now been squashed.

Apple says that iOs 26 provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone, including fixes for the following issues:
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth may occasionally disconnect on iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models
-
A small number of iPhone users may be unable to connect to a cellular network after updating to iOS 26
-
Photos taken under certain lighting conditions with iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models may include unexpected artifacts
-
App icons may appear blank after adding a custom tint

So, how do you get in on this fix? It’s easy: open the Settings app, tap General, then Software Update, and hit the big blue button. Voila, your iPhone is on the path to slightly less chaos.
Before you get too excited, don’t expect this to be a magic bullet. iOS 26.0.1 is mostly bug fixes and minor stability improvements; no new features, no revamp of liquid glass. If you weren’t thrilled with Apple’s shiny new look, well… sorry, it’s not going anywhere. But if you’ve already bought into iOS26, this update is worth grabbing to smooth out some of the rough edges.

Apple has done this before: Remember iOS 18.0.1 after iOS 18? Updates like this, marked by the extra decimal, are a sure sign of bug fixes and stability tweaks rather than the flashy new features.
So, if your iPhone 17 or any iPhone running iOS 26 has been acting up, make sure to update. Your phone and your sanity will thank you.
