Horrifying footage captures moment swinging theme park ride snaps in two, hospitalising 23
Three people are in critical condition
New terrifying footage captured the moment a theme park ride snapped in half, sending 23 people hurtling to the ground as screams rang out in the background.
In a moment straight out of a horror film, thrill seekers got more than they bargained for at Green Mountain Resort in the Saudi Arabian city of Taif on Thursday. The popular 360 Degrees ride was mid descent when it smacked into its own pillar and snapped in half, sending people to the ground in a loud crash. Witnesses recalled the ride “recoiled at high speed” before it hit the ground, the park attendant fleeing through the gate to get help.
Thankfully, people were strapped into the ride at the time, or injuries could have been much more severe. Still, 23 people were injured in the crash, with the MailOnline reporting that at least three were in critical condition as others were treated at the scene.
It is understood that Saudi Arabian authorities have launched a probe into the accident, with Green Mountain Resort suspending operations as the 360 Degrees ride was cordoned off.
More information is expected to follow as details emerge.

A similar accident happened just a few months ago
According to the MailOnline, this comes just a few months after a 13-year-old suffered multiple fractures from a Pendulum 360 ride in Indonesia. The ride had been spinning to the top, as intended, before the boy slipped from his seat and dangled from the edge. When the ride started to come back down, he fell from a height of approximately two metres.
Again, operations of the ride were suspended as the lad was treated for two fractures to his right hand and one to his right leg.
