Also expect appearances from Barry from Eastenders, Big John, and an astronaut

Put down that textbook, leave the library, and get your sunglasses back on – summer is almost upon us!

And luckily for you there is plenty going on in and around Sheffield to celebrate the end of exam season. Six festivals, the last ever Leadmill night, a real life Mario Kart-style track, and social media personality Big John judging a sausage eating competition – this month really does have something for everyone.

Here’s our editor’s picks of everything happening in Sheffield this June.

Food and drink

This week is Sheffield Cocktail Week! So whatever your favourite local tipple is, you can get the signature cocktail of 43 participating city centre venues for just £5 until Sunday 8th June. It also includes discounts in 13 bars and restaurants.

All you need to do it buy a wristband – purchase and find out more on their website here.

Or maybe cocktails aren’t your thing? If so, you might want to get over to Don Valley Bowl this weekend for the Sausage and Cider Festival. Enjoy a range of beverages from breweries across the UK and a sizzling selection from the grills.

They won’t be the only bangers on offer either – with a headline performance from She’s So Lovely hit makers Scouting for Girls also taking centre stage.

The one and only Barry from EastEnders (aka Shaun Williamson) will also make an appearance, as will social media sensation Big John to referee a sausage eating competition. Bosh!

Events kick off at 1pm on Saturday 7th June, and tickets are available here.

And because we’re absolutely spoilt for choice this month – there’s something for the vino fans too! The second annual Sheffield Wine Week will see a preliminary schedule of 27 wine tasting and pairing take place across the city.
