This airline has started giving out fines for one simple thing we all do on planes
You might be flying with them this summer
We all want to get off the flight as quickly as possible when the plane lands to stretch our legs, get to the front of the immigration queue and start the holiday as fast as possible, but that could leave you with a hefty fine under new rules.
The Turkish Directorate of Civil Aviation has announced that people who unclip their seatbelt, stand in the aisle or get their bags out of the overhead locker on any of the country’s airlines before the plane has stopped will have to cough up.
According to The Washington Post, the fines could be up to 2,603 Turkish lira, which is just under £50. That’s the last thing you want to be spending your hard-saved holiday money on!
So, anybody who is travelling with Turkish Airlines will possibly face fines this summer. They have routes from London to many destinations, including Istanbul, Antalya, Dubai, Bangkok and New York.

“Despite announcements informing passengers of the rules, many are standing up before the aircraft reaches its parking positions and before the seat belt sign is turned off,” the aviation authority said. “This behavior compromises the safety of passengers and baggage, disregards the satisfaction and exit priority of other travellers.”
“According to the regulation, airlines are obliged to remind passengers to fasten their seatbelts during and after landing until they reach the parking position and to explicitly point out that any infringement will be reported to the aviation authority, and a fine will be imposed.”

The new rules came into effect earlier this month to increase safety and make disembarking the aircraft more orderly, following passenger complaints and safety violations during flight inspections.
There hasn’t been any official reports of fines being given out yet, but it’s better to be safe than sorry and stay buckled up until the seatbelt sign goes off if you’re flying on Turkish Airlines, or any of the country’s smaller ones.
