Lancaster, say hello to your new BNOC for 2025: Jacob Hudson
The nail-biting wait is finally over, this year’s Lancaster BNOC crown has finally been bestowed
It has been no small feat, Lancaster’s 2024/2025 BNOC competition has seen a massive amount of entries. So much so, that we had to do two rounds of initial voting just fit everyone – you guys are always keeping us on our toes!
This year’s conception saw a total of 10 nominations. That’s a lot of popular faces. The second round had narrowed it down to five campus icons. Last week, you guys narrowed it down to our final trio. But there is only room on the BNOC throne for one.
But we won’t keep you in suspense much longer, you’ve all waited so patiently for the results. So without any further ado, here they are:
Winner: Jacob Hudson (also known as Yacob) – Third year, Pendle
The Spoons King has now widened his reign to Lancaster’s Biggest Name on Campus.
Jacob won with 59 per cent of the vote, that is a decisive victory for the Spoons-trotter.
Jacob is known for his informative reviews of Wetherspoons pubs across the country, making sure his fellow students are informed of prices, ambiance, and location of his favoured establishment.
When Jacob is not on Spoons trips, he is a familiar face in Lancaster’s Sugarhouse, commonly being seen on the dance floor or taking photos with fellow students in the smoking area. Furthermore, Jacob is also a valued and loyal member of Lancaster University Politics Society, regularly attending meetings and contributing to debates.
When told of his win, Jacob told The Lancaster Tab: “Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate you voting for me.”
He further added: “Winning feels amazing, I’m glad I can help everyone with visiting spoons across the UK.”

Second place: Kelcey Pedley – Third year, County
Kelly just about missed out on taking the crown, but made a valiant effort with winning 36.5 per cent of the votes.
Kelcey put up a great effort to claim the crown and her impact of creating women’s football team Dale Street United is immeasurable. Congratulations on the silver medal Kelcey, definitely well earned.
Sorry you weren’t able to score this goal, but go Dale Street United!
Third Place: Oli Stephens – Fourth year, Furness
Our final runner up is Oli, winning 4.5 per cent of votes. He made a great effort, being the longest attending student to make it in the final. Congratulation for making this far Oli, that is something to definitely be proud of.
