Here are eight hidden references you didn’t spot in Black Mirror’s Bête Noire episode
It’s full of Easter Eggs
Black Mirror season seven is here and there seem to be more hidden Easter Eggs than ever before. The second episode, Bête Noire is no exception.
It’s about a woman called Maria whose life is turned upside down when an old schoolmate gets employed at the chocolate factory where she works.
Verity uses a magic pendant to alter reality as revenge for something that happened years ago, and it drives Maria totally insane.
It’s one of the best episodes in the season seven, and Bête Noire is full of hidden details. Here are all the ones you missed.

The almond milk
Maria realises something weird is going on when the CCTV footage captures her stealing a colleague’s almond milk, and that’s actually the same carton of almond milk that Robert Daily drinks in the first USS Callister episode.
The brand of crisps
In the Ditta office, someone is looking at Possetts crisps on their computer, the same name as the department store where the main character in Demon 79 works. The season six episode is about a sales assistant who is told she must commit terrible acts to prevent disaster.
The poster at Ditta
When Verity goes to the Ditta tasting session, the poster in the background says “Gemini Orbits” which is the same name as the space station in Beyond The Sea, about astronauts who can transfer their consciousness to fake copies of their bodies on Earth.
Barnies vs Bernies
Most Read
It’s been the talk of the internet, but if you didn’t already know, Netflix has put out two versions of the chicken restaurant scene. In one, she remembers it as “Barnies” while the other is “Bernies,” and people are randomly being shown one.

The real name is Barnies
A food chain called Barnies actually appeared in two old episodes, Joan Is Awful and Shut Up and Dance, so people think the real chicken restaurant must be called Barnies.
Lacey’s Licorice Rolls
In Bête Noire, someone talks about a food company called Lacey’s Licorice Rolls, which seems to be a reference to Lacie, the main character in Nosedive. She is overly obsessed with her ratings on an online platform where people can rate each other from one to five stars.
That billboard
During one of the Ditta office scenes, there’s a billboard visible through the window that says “Tuckersoft,” the name of the game company behind Bandersnatch. There’s also another Bandersnatch reference in Verity’s house as she has the book on her shelf.
The Facebook pictures
When Maria looks back at old Facebook pictures from school to find images of Verity, the girl next to her is actually the famous TikTok star Angelina Certified. The content creator has a really tiny cameo in the episode.
