People call out Louise Thompson for talking about how hard being an influencer is
‘I don’t take a lunch break. I am back to back with meetings’
Louise Thompson has appeared on a podcast and spoken about life as an influencer. She opened up about her struggles in the industry, but the reception to it hasn’t been good.
Louise Thompson is best known for being in Made in Chelsea, but now she’s a fully-fledged business woman, mother and influencer. Her career has completely taken off, and she’s clearly very busy. What’s more, Louise has always been open about her health struggles.
She’s undergone many surgeries recently, with one resulting in her going into septic shock. Louise has also spoken about having a stoma bag fitted, and her near-death experience whilst giving birth to her son, Leo. Nobody can say Louise isn’t the epitome of someone who has picked herself up and overcome some serious trauma.
But, that hasn’t stopped people going for her after a recent interview. Speaking on the He Said She Said podcast, that she hosts alongside partner Ryan Libbey, the couple opened up about “the side of social media that you don’t see.”

“People might think, okay you’re just an influencer,” Louise said. “You’re just out there having a lunch every day. You’re having a good time…it’s not true. I don’t have a second in the day, I don’t take a lunch break. I am back to back with meetings.” Louise then got clearly quite emotional talking about her work.
She continued: “I look at people who have grown really successful businesses that aren’t necessarily influencers and they have teams. You have to have a team. They have teams of 10, 20, 50, 100 people. You have to scale up. I’ve basically realised in the last six months that I.. I’m doing at least five people’s jobs.

“I think it’s fine though to also have a bit of a burnt out moment, and be like this is all part of the journey. I don’t need to be perfect.”
People in the comments have shared their thoughts on the discussion, too. “Is this satire,” one person simply questioned. Many have compared influencer life to other industries, and argued the first isn’t hard at all.
“Omg being a influencer must be so much worse than being a nurse,” one said. Another added: “This is most people’s reality. Think of nurses for example. Underpaid, undervalued and overworked! Then you can you moan about not having a lunch break.” A third said: “So many influencers would not last two seconds in a health care job.”
Other people in the comments are defending Louise against the negativity. “Gosh these comments are bonkers,” someone said. “Money can’t buy you happiness and everyone’s struggle is subjective. Leading successful business takes an insane amount of mental energy and they have a toddler.”
It’s definitely opened up a whole conversation.
