Woman pronounced dead at King’s College London after being allegedly hit by drug driver

Two other pedestrians also suffered injuries


A woman has been killed outside King’s College London after a drug driver allegedly ran into her on Strand campus.

Multiple eyewitnesses have told The King’s Tab that the woman was a student, however this has not yet been confirmed.

The woman is yet to be named but has been identified by police as a woman in her twenties.

According to an eyewitness, the woman was eating her lunch on a bench in the courtyard outside of Bush House before she was hit.

Another eyewitness told The King’s Tab: “Emergency services tried a bit for CPR… It didn’t work. So they covered her over.”

The Metropolitan Police confirmed to The King’s Tab: “The driver of the van, a 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion causing death by careless driving and driving with concentration of specified controlled drug above specified limit.

“He remains in custody.”

Officers were reportedly called to the scene today at 11:41 am earlier today after the event had occurred.

It has been confirmed by police that two other pedestrians also suffered injuries, as well as the one woman being killed.

It has also been confirmed that the other two pedestrians have been taken to hospital. One is facing potentially life-threatening injuries, whilst the other has minor injuries.

The crime scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing.
