This thorough investigation into how much the price of a Freddo has increased is insane
It’s a Great British tragedy
The beloved Freddo has been a staple of British confectionery since we were all kids, but the price tag has drastically changed since we could buy one with our pocket money. It’s a national price-measuring unit online, in the same way we say “banana for scale.” But it’s time to face the facts: The Freddo is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced nowadays. This thorough investigation into how much the price of a Freddo has increased is insanely shocking and will genuinely make you want to leave the country.
The cost of a Freddo bar since 2000
As you can see, Freddo bars started out as 10p. It stayed this way until 2007, when they hit 15p. Not a huge difference but certainly not in line with inflation, which you can see on the green-filled part of the graph. They were on a rapid increase, going up in price almost every year. They hit a disgusting level in 2017 of 30p, which evidently shocked the nation, and they were reduced back down to 25p. However, that small step forward was actually a huge step back in the grand scheme of things, because now in 2025, the measly Freddo bar has made it to that number again.
How much should a Freddo cost according to inflation?
According to inflation, a Freddo should cost just 18.7p, which is already a far cry from the 30-40p levels supermarkets are selling them for. That means we’ve seen a 200 per cent increase in the cost of a Freddo since 2000, and only a 111% increase in UK inflation between 2000 and 2024.

An earth-shattering discovery
Outrage has been sparked online after it was discovered that Freddo bars were being sold for as much as ONE WHOLE POUND. An investigation by The Sun found that the price of Freddo bars has fluctuated from store to store, and a WHSmith was spotted selling Them for 49p. This must be why they’re always empty.
Additionally, the Daily Mail discovered a Reddit post claiming to have seen a Freddo on sale for £1 in a WHSmith in Carlisle this year. What an outrage!
