Police services had closed Parliament Street while firefighters tackled a building site fire
An 11-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer at the scene of a Lancaster fire on Saturday (8th February).
The incident occurred near a police cordon on Parliament Street, where the police, and the fire and rescue service were present.
The road had been closed after a fire broke out in a student accommodation building site that has been under construction.
The fire began at approximately 1pm on Saturday 8th February.
Lancashire Police arrived at the scene of the fire to assist with road closures on Cable Street, Parliament Street and Caton Road.
At the time, police and fire services requested that the public avoid the area surrounding the fire, which was no longer visible just after 2:10pm, according to eye witnesses.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue said that they were still “monitoring” the fire at 3pm.
The boy was arrested in the afternoon when fire and police services were still present.
Further details of the boy’s arrest are unknown.
