Lawyer reveals whether Drake could legally sue Kendrick Lamar for his Super Bowl show
It’s all heating up
The Super Bowl took place last night, and Kendrick Lamar created quite the stir after performing his Drake diss track, Not Like Us, during the halftime show.
The song certainly doesn’t hold back on the insults and accusations, but could Drake actually sue Kendrick Lamar for his Super Bowl performance?
During the song, Kendrick did leave out the second word of “certified p**dophile”, however, the audience in the arena was more than happy to sing the second word for him.
He still included the lyrics that Drake “likes ’em young” and tells his romantic partners to “hide their lil’ sister”, as well as including the “a minor” line.

Whilst Drake is already suing for defamation via Universal Music Group, could he directly try and sue Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl halftime performance?
Bill Ogden, a high profile lawyer spoke to LADbible in order to answer this very question, here’s what he explained.
He said: “In the United States, most jurisdictions would permit anyone to file a defamation lawsuit against another. As long as defamation lawsuits have been around, so has the ultimate defence, ‘the truth.'”
He added: “There have also been recent developments with Anti-Slapp defences being afforded in different jurisdictions. An Anti-Slapp defence is when a lawsuit is filed against someone for the purpose of silencing a constitutionally protected right.
“The most common defence asserted in these types of defences is someone’s first amendment right to speak freely without being censored.”

However, Bill thinks it’s unlikely that Drake will try and personally target Kendrick Lamar in a legal sense following the Super Bowl.

He clarified: “In my opinion, Drake is going after the label because of how the public would perceive him losing a rap ‘beef’ than running to the courts complaining of how unfair it is that his feelings and image were hurt.
“Second, Drake fully participated in the back and forth, alleging Kendrick committing domestic violence against a loved one.”
