A Cardiff University professor has raised more than £200 for a cat charity with her latest book launch.

Miranda Aldhouse-Green, an emeritus professor of archaeology at the university, raised the money for SHUA, a local cat sanctuary, through the launch of her new book: A Coven of Cats, which was officially published on 3rd January.

According to the Penarth Times, the event, held at Penarth Library on Wednesday, 15th January, drew over 60 attendees, including visitors from as far as Cumbria and Suffolk and raised more than £200 for the charity.

Mirada, a cat owner herself, donated all proceeds from pre-publication sales to the charity and sold an additional 25 books during the event, further supporting SHUA’s work in rescuing and rehoming cats.

Representatives from the charity were also present to share their gratitude for the contributions.

The book, is described as an autobiographical narrative exploring the Miranda’s experiences as a cat owner, particularly of Burmese cats and as a unique “song of praise” for felines. The book also combines personal stories with drawings and photos.

Miranda has previously published other books focused on archaeology, some received international awards and have been translated into several languages.

The book is available for purchase at Griffin Bookshop, Amazon or directly from the publisher and all proceeds will support SHUA’s mission of helping cats in need.
