Lancaster Arts is hosting two fundraising concerts to provide aid for well building in Gaza

Both concerts are raising money for a solar powered well in Gaza, which has been a project initiated by a Lancaster University graduate

Two concerts, run by Lancaster Arts, will take place in Lancaster on the 25th January to help fundraise efforts of well building in Gaza.

The project was initiated by a Lancaster University graduate from Gaza who has returned to live there.

The concerts will take place in The Gregson Centre at 4pm, and at Halton Mill at 7pm.

The concerts, named Water for Gaza: A Musical Meditation on Peace will be 50 minutes long. Lancaster-based musicians cellist Maja Bugge and trumpeter Pete Moser will be amongst those performing. Further performers include Oud player Mina Salama and singer Jenna Mornas, who is a current history student at Lancaster University.

The musical performances include original compositions, improvisations as well as composed pieces from Arvo Pärt and J.S. Bach.

Lancaster Arts stated that the musicians wanted an opportunity to use music to “reflect on the terrible crisis in the region and to bring people together in a quiet contemplative space.”

The concerts will both be followed by refreshments as well as an opportunity to share reflections and thoughts.

Entrance to the events are on a “pay as you can” basis, with the suggested donation amount of £10 per person.
