Liverpool students call police after discovering mysterious intruder in their chimney
The ‘dangling’ intruder racked up nearly 550k views on TikTok
A Liverpool student has shared hilarious footage of housemates gathering in fear outside their house following a supposed break in.
In a video posted to their TikTok account, user Maeve shows footage from a video doorbell recording of two police officers leaving the property in Kensington.
The video’s caption then revealed that the mysterious intruder was actually discovered “dangling from the chimney”.
@maevemooneyyy UPDATE: he was found dangling from the chimney #fyp #relatable #unihouse #funny #dogsout
The video, captioned “sorry couldn’t make it to uni today because we heard a noise upstairs and panicked”, shows a short clip of the group of housemates frantically making phone calls in their pyjamas, outside on the streets of Kensington. One of them is even shown to be standing barefoot on the path.
Maeve cuts to a hilarious video recording of their Ring doorbell footage, in which viewers can see two police officers in full uniform exiting their student house, whilst the tenants wait patiently outside.
The loungewear-clad housemates then venture back inside the property, laughing at their panicked responses to hearing “a noise upstairs”.
The video doesn’t shed any light on the intruder that supposedly entered the property via a chimney.
But Maeve’s caption explains that the mysterious person was found “hanging out of the chimney” in their house. I’d love to know if it was a Santa Claus-esque situation.
Finding the funny side of the slightly traumatic ordeal, TikTok user Maeve posted the video to the social media platform where it racked up over 345k views and 22k likes.
The hashtags attached to the video included “#relatable” and “#dogsout”. Poking fun at your barefooted housemate is definitely the best way to deal with the shock of discovering an intruder in your house.

Users took to the comments to join in on the fun, with one person letting everyone know that “barefoot in kenny is CRAZY” – and they’re not wrong either.
Others entered their detective eras, attempting to work out exactly which road the intruder had decided to take a gamble on. Some comments hounded the “tootsies” feature, with Maeve replying “she has defo caught something” to one user’s take on the bare feet on Kensington pavements.
One TikTok user also said: “My friend called the police cause she thought a man was in her house too like a week ago but they couldn’t find anyone”.
Looks like Liverpool is a hot spot for acrobatic intruders this year. Security in student houses is no joke, and I’m sure we’ve all had our fair share of leaving windows open over half terms and losing house keys in McCooley’s but this is another level.
Just as another commenter said, jumping on the “creator fund making money off [someone’s] tootsies” must be the first port of call when you’re experiencing a traumatic breaking and entering scenario.
