Erm, these Liverpool students made a slip and slide in their flat and it looks insanely fun

A group of Liverpool students went viral after they turned their accommodation hallway into a slip and slide.

Flatmates at Horizon Heights used water and washing up liquid to transform the communal corridor, before taking turns launching themselves down it.

Filming the process on TikTok, the video has since received over two million views.

Titled “this is your sign to have a flat slip and slide”, the video gained nearly 100k likes in the space of 24 hours.

The students behind the stunt spoke to The Liverpool Tab about the brains behind the operation, revealing they initially saw the idea on TikTok and couldn’t resist attempting it themselves.

Describing the thought process and set-up of the slip and slide, Jasmine told The Liverpool Tab: “The slip and slide was Lucy’s idea. We saw a video on TikTok.

“We used hot water and a load of Fairy Liquid.”

In the video the students can be seen filling washing up bowls and saucepans with soapy water, and emptying them across the floor of the hallway – average weeknight activities, obviously.

We then see each flatmate run and launch themselves across the soapy floor on their stomachs in a Horizon Heights-esque waterpark, with some wearing bin bags to keep themselves dry.

Explaining how they protected their rooms from getting wet, Jasmine said: “We covered all of the door gaps with bin bags and towels (a lot) and we wore pjs and bin bags”.

Can you imagine seeing seven students wrapped up in bin bags and wearing fluffy socks just to throw themselves across a wet and soapy wooden floor on a Wednesday night? No, me neither.

The clean up operation seemed less exciting than the slip and slide, with flat 1009 having to rope in their neighbour’s cleaning supplies in order to leave no trace of the soapy activities of the evening.

Captioned “if it isn’t the consequences of their own actions”, a video of the clean up operation shows the flat wringing out mops after cleaning up suds from the hallway.

Jasmine said: “To clean up we had to borrow our neighbours mops.

“We had two mops to mop up all the water and soap up and then a dry mop to polish.”

Despite many comments on the video telling the flat to “enjoy the silverfish”, Jasmine explained how the flat actually ended up looking sparkling.

She told The Liverpool Tab: “We actually ended up with a really clean flat to be fair!”

Other comments under their TikTok video showed sympathy towards the wooden flooring more than anything, with users sending “good luck for room inspections” and some saying “it’s probably the cleanest those floors have ever been”.

The account posted an update for concerned viewers who “hope the floors are waterproof”, showing the floor being used back in it’s original purpose.

The group of students also shared a video of the cleaning process captioned “for everyone concerned about our hallway’s health”, showing the aftermath of the slip and slide and everything looking nice and dry. At least they’re taking good care of the wooden floors, I suppose?
